The pooch to the left? This is Harley Quinn, named after Batman's cute archenemy. Like her namesake, Harley is adorable but not to be taken lightly. Weighing in at ten pounds, she's tough.
Thanks to a FB shout-out from Steve Haynes, editor at Proxima Books, we've had a pair of offers from people willing to review The Atheist's Daughter. Since Steve is busy promoting Jonathan Pinnock's Mrs. Darcy Versus the Aliens (we love the cover and so will you: go take a look), his effort was unexpected and is much appreciated.
One of the people offering to review T.A.D. is, in fact, Jonathan Pinnock. The link we've posted will actually take you to a website promoting his new novel. Why? Well, because we so enjoy the home page quotation that reads, "This book is much funnier than the original, and it has more monsters. I laughed like a mentalist."
For us, that's as good a review as you can get. We'd have read The Old Man and the Sea by now if it had that exact quote on its front cover.
Since it's a holiday weekend, we're having some play time. During our recreational hours, we're --
Reading: At this moment, one of us is enjoying Susan Ee's Angelfall. Unless the story collapses at mid-point, this is a terrific self-pub and it puts a lie to the argument that terrific fiction only exists under a traditional publisher's label. But how does someone pronounce Susan's last name? Is it a single "E" or is a monster movie sound effect, "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"?
We're guessing, monster movie sound effect.
Watching: Torchwood: Miracle Day. The mini-series is almost over in the States and we're only on Ep 4. We're very happy we didn't delete this from our DVR.
Drinking: George Phillips Cellars 2009 Sauvignon Blanc. It's pleasant and a little sweet, and it seems just right for a hot summer's day.
Listening: Both of us are enjoying Rasputina'sThanks for the Ether and there's a chance you will, too. We discovered this album because of the beautiful Rachel.
Enough about us. What's new with you?
