No, smarty, we're not talking about ourselves or you and your sister's diet plan, for that matter. We're talking about the mad geniuses over at Digital Science Fiction.
DSF was created, in their own words, "To promote science fiction in all its forms together with the science fiction community, and in particular the writers and artists that bring science fiction to life." No small goal, eh? This summer, they became Big Shot Publishers, and pulled together a pair of short story anthologies (First Contact and Therefore I Am), pricing them a bit too damned cheap for the comfort of us other Big Shot Publishers, all the while continuing to run a first class website about all things science fiction-y.
Which is how we found them. Y'see, one of their regular contributors is Luke Forney, of the late and lamented Luke Reviews. We loved Luke Reviews -- as did the site's thousands of monthly visitors -- but Luke decided to shut the thing down so that he could focus on college, his own writing career, and his upcoming nuptials. Yes, yes, he is a selfish bastard, always thinking about himself when he should be running a free website for our amusement. We were pleased to see him reappear at DSF.
We were even happier to see him reviewing books and stories again. When Luke's at the top of his game -- as he is here, talking about eBook Short Science Fiction -- well, he grabs your attention and holds it tightly. Personally, we've reread that one piece over and over again.
We don't know what DSF pays the guy, but they're lucky to have him.
